Thoughts at Easter

Hi Everyone!

This week has really been such a blast. It has been full of a lot of adventures, like teaching, knocking, contacting, cleaning, singing, all in all, just a pretty fabulous week.

But I really wanted to share a little thought that I had had this week with you all. I was studying in Preach My Gospel on our purpose as missionaries, and I just thought that I would talk a little about it. We are all children of God. We are all family. This is what we believe. If this is what we believe, then why don’t we treat each other like family? Families love each other, they talk to each other, they make each other see their importance and potential. This week, I have been focusing a lot on the talent of Love. I believe that it truly is a talent to love other people. So how can we do this?

One way I have seen this week is by studying the Atonement. As we learn of Christ and His love for us, we want to share that knowledge with the rest of the world. How can they be missing out on something so happy and wonderful? Let’s fill them in.

Sister Missionaries in Roskilde

Well, as Ezra Taft Benson beautifully puts it, “Just as man doesn’t really desire food until he is hungry, so he does not desire the salvation of Christ until he knows why he needs Christ.” We know that we need Christ. We know that through Christ all of us can be saved. We are nearing Easter time, and that is a time where we celebrate Christ’s resurrection. Do we understand what that even implies? Do we ourselves know what that means?

Christ suffered and died for us. That is a big statement. Let me break it down for you. One night, Christ went into a garden to pray. That night He took upon all of the sins of the world. Your sins, your sorrows, your pains, your trials, any moment that you needed comfort and felt you had none, He took that on Himself, so that we would never be alone. He did all that for us, He paid for OUR sins, because He loves us, all so that we could come home to our Father in Heaven. And we killed Him. He died on the cross, but He was constantly caring about everyone else around Him. He had to face, suffer, and win death so that He could provide a way for us to win it, too. That is pure love, pure charity. He died. And then He did what no one else had ever done before, He came back. He was resurrected into a perfect body. This is news, people! Because this happened, because Christ won, so can we! It is a promise that we will ALL be resurrected. We don’t have to fear death, because He conquered it for us. Because of Him, all is possible.

That is how we can help others. I don’t know about you all, but just writing this got me really pumped to go change the world! I hope that you all had the same feeling. ๐Ÿ™‚
